Discovered a new inking technique lately called blotting. Well really I guess you would call it a trick since it's just to give a certain effect.
You take 2 to 3 sheets of medical gauze and fasten around some padding (be it cotton or tissue paper or something to that affect) with a rubber band, then lightly drip ink (preferably India ink) over it. Once you've done all this you can press and/or dab the gauze ball onto regions of your work to give an effect or mood to your background.
This trick is used often in manga for panels involving eeriness, confusion, simple background design, creating characters, etc and I have been using it with awesome results. Thought this was cool so I just wanted to write it down.
